AMIR OF QATAR TO VISIT HEADQUARTERS ON 9 JUNE

The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, will visit Headquarters on Monday, 9 June, to confer with Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

The Amir and members of his party will arrive at 5 p.m. at the Secretariat Entrance, where they will be received by the Secretary-General and saluted by the honour guard. Accompanied by the Secretary-General and escorted by the Assistant Chief of Protocol, the Amir will proceed by special elevator to the Secretary-General's office on the 38th floor.

After the meeting, the Amir, escorted by the Assistant Chief of Protocol, will proceed to the Trusteeship Council Chamber on the second floor. At 5:30 p.m., the Amir will meet with Arab ambassadors accredited to the United Nations, and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. he will attend a reception given in his honour in the Delegates' Dining Room.

Following the reception, the Amir will leave Headquarters from the Delegates' Entrance.
