HIGHEST LEVEL COORDINATION BODY IN UNITED NATIONS SYSTEM MEETS AT GENEVA

19970411 GENEVA, 10 April (UN Information Service) -- The Administrative Committee on Coordination (ACC), the highest level coordination body in the United Nations system, is currently holding a two-day meeting at the United Nations Office at Geneva, which began today.

The ACC holds two annual sessions: the first at the headquarters of one of its member organizations, and the second at Headquarters in New York. At each session, ACC considers two or three substantive issues, as well as administrative questions.

Secretary-General Kofi Annan is presiding over the meeting in his capacity as Chairman of the ACC. For the first time in the last several years, the session is attended by all the heads of agencies, funds and programmes personally. Attending the session are the following: Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Michel Hansenne; Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Jacques Diouf; Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Federico Mayor; Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Philippe H.P.
