REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH IS A RIGHT FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, UNFPA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TELLS STATUS OF WOMEN COMMISSION CORRECTION

19970321

In Press Release WOM/967 issued on 17 March, the fourth paragraph should read as follows:

SAM OTUYELU (Nigeria) said while his delegation had always supported international cooperation in the advancement of women, he was disappointed to note that such cooperation had not been extended to the members of the official delegation of Nigeria to the session. Some members of the delegation had not been able to be present at the meeting because of non-receipt of required visas to travel to New York. Nigeria supported the statement made by the representative of the United Republic of Tanzania on behalf of the "Group of 77" developing countries and China in that regard. It also welcomed the Secretary-General's commitment to a 50-50 gender distribution of professional positions within the Secretariat by the year 2000.
