STATUS OF WOMEN COMMISSION FOCUS ON `WOMEN IN POWER AND DECISION-MAKING' CORRECTION

In Press Release WOM/961 issued today, the third paragraph on page 6 should read as follows:

"Responding to questions posed by participants, Ms. MILLER said attitudes to quotas varied. She herself was not in favour of legislation in that regard. However, women themselves should be consulted on whether or not they wanted quotas. It was important that political parties commit themselves to representing women. They should make room for women at the top."
