NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN MARCH

19970228 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies will take office on 1 March:

Security Council

Zbigniew M. Wlosowicz (Poland) succeeds Njuguna M. Mahugu (Kenya) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Brigadier General Gérard de Bastier de Villars de Bez d'Arre (France) succeeds Major General Chen Fuyuan (China) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
