SECRETARY-GENERAL'S STATEMENT ON MID-AIR COLLISION IN ISRAEL

19970204 The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary- General Kofi Annan:

The Secretary-General learned with regret of the mid-air collision of two Israeli transport helicopters over northern Israel tonight, with loss of over 70 lives.

He expresses his condolences to the Government and people of Israel as well as to the bereaved families of the victims.
