SECURITY COUNCIL SANCTIONS COMMITTEES ELECT OFFICERS FOR 1997
19970107 NEW YORK, 6 January (Department of Political Affairs) -- On 6 January, the President of the Security Council, Hisashi Owada (Japan), convened meetings of the Council's Sanctions Committees, which are composed of all members of the Council, to elect their respective bureaux for 1997.The composition of the elected bureaux is as follows:
Security Council Committee established by resolution 661 (1990) concerning the situation between Iraq and Kuwait:
Chairman António Victor Martins Monteiro (Portugal) Vice-Chairmen Guinea-Bissau, Poland
Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 748 (1992) concerning Libya:
Chairman Zbigniew Maria Wlosowicz (Poland) Vice-Chairmen Portugal, Republic of Korea
Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 751 (1992) concerning Somalia:
Chairman Park Soo Gil (Republic of Korea) Vice-Chairmen Costa Rica, Egypt
Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 864 (1993) concerning the situation in Angola:
