NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN NOVEMBER

19961031 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies will take office on 1 November:

Security Council

Nugroho Wisnumurti (Indonesia) succeeds Gerardo Martinez Blanco (Honduras) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Major-General Valery Nikitovich Demin (Russian Federation) succeeds Brigadier General G. de Bastier de Villais de Bez d'Arre (France) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
