ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL COMMITTEE IS TOLD GOALS OF CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE SHOULD BE MORE FLEXIBLE CORRECTION
19961023In Press Release GA/EF/2729 of 22 October, the first sentence of the fourth paragraph on page 1 should read:
"The representative of China called for the formulation of legal instruments setting out developed countries' obligations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions."
The second paragraph on page 4 should read:
"YONGJIE BAI (China) said the principle of equity should guide Member States in the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. The developed nations had an obligation to provide developing countries with resources to enable them to implement the convention. She called for formulation of legal instruments setting forth developed countries' obligations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The developed countries should not, during the implementation of those instruments, impose any new obligations on the developing countries."
