NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS UNITAR TO INAUGURATE NEW YORK OFFICE

A seminar marking the opening of the New York Office of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on 7 October in the Economic and Social Council Chamber.

The seminar will be chaired by Ahmad Kamal, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UNITAR, John DiBiaggio, The President of Tufts University, will be the keynote speaker. The Chief of the New York Office of UNITAR, Nassrine Azimi, will give an outline of the objectives and recent activities of the Institute. The closing statement will be delivered by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Sardar Aseff Ahmad Ali.

The theme of the seminar will be, "Challenges for training in a new millennium". The meeting will be attended by members of permanent missions, prominent academics, media representatives and officials of the United Nations Secretariat, programmes and funds.
