NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN OCTOBER

19960930 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies will take office on 1 October:

Security Council

Gerardo Martinez Blanco (Honduras) succeeds Alfredo Lopes Cabral (Guinea-Bissau) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Brigadier General G. de Bastier de Villais de Bez d'Arre (France) succeeds Major-General Zhou Jiang (China) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
