SECRETARY-GENERAL EXPRESSES SATISFACTION TO PRESIDENT YELTSIN ON ELECTION VICTORY

19960705 Following is the text of the message sent yesterday by Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali to Boris Yeltsin, President of the Russian Federation:

With deep satisfaction, I have learned of your victory at the second round of the elections. Your leadership ensures that Russia will enjoy stability during a difficult period of transformation. This is precisely the aim towards which we are striving at the United Nations.

The choice of your people in favour of a strong and democratic Russia will tremendously help the efforts of the United Nations in bringing peace, development and democracy to all parts of the world.
