NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN JULY

19960701 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies take office today:

Security Council

Alain Dejammet (France) succeeds Nabil A. Elaraby (Egypt) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Rear Admiral David A.J. Blackburn (United Kingdom) succeeds Major- General Valery N. Demin (Russian Federation) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
