SECRETARY-GENERAL TO VISIT GERMANY FROM 19 TO 21 JUNE
19960617 The following was issued today by the Spokesman for the Secretary- General:Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali will make an official visit to Germany from 19 to 21 June.
While in Germany, the Secretary-General will meet with President Roman Herzog, Chancellor Helmut Kohl, Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel, Defence Minister Volker Ruehe, Development Minister Carl-Dietrich Spranger and Environment Minister Angela Merkel. He will also meet with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, with members of the Social Democratic Party and with representatives of the German NGO Association for Development.
In Bonn, the Secretary-General will inaugurate the new headquarters of the United Nations Volunteers and the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and will sign the relevant documents with German authorities on this occasion. These are the first global United Nations programmes to establish their headquarters in Germany.
