DISCOVERY CHANNEL TO BROADCAST UNITED NATIONS DOCUMENTARY
19960507 On Friday, 10 May, The Discovery Channel will broadcast the United Nations television documentary "No Place To Hide" to its North American audience under the title series "Assignment Discovery" at 9 a.m., the Department of Public Information (DPI) announced today.Assignment Discovery is an educational, training and informational programme for both teachers and students throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Written support materials and videotaping rights are made available to teachers who may then use the programme for instruction throughout the year.
"No Place To Hide", a 50-minute documentary which examines the past, present and future of United Nations peace-keeping activities, was written and narrated by the former head of United Nations Peace-keeping, Sir Brian Urquhart. As the most successful United Nations television documentary ever produced, "No Place To Hide" has already been sold to broadcasters in Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Iceland, Malta, Jordan, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Argentina, Republic of Korea, Japan, United States and Canada. The programme has also been broadcast in 16 languages.
