NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN APRIL

19960329 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies will take office on 1 April:

SECURITY COUNCIL

Juan Somavia (Chile) will succeed Legwaila Joseph Legwaila (Botswana) as President of the Security Council.

MILITARY STAFF COMMITTEE

Major-General Zhou Jiang (China) will succeed Lieutenant General Wesley Kanne Clark (United States) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
