BBC TO BROADCAST UNITED NATIONS VIDEO DOCUMENTARIES
19960319 On Wednesday, 3 April, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) will begin broadcasting United Nations educational video documentaries on its BBC 2 Learning Zone channel under the title series of "The United Nations - 50 Years of Activity", the Department of Public Information (DPI) announced today.The Learning Zone is an educational, training and information programme for teachers and students of all ages. In the United Kingdom it has a general audience of some 2.2 million people and the BBC encourages recording the programmes on tape for use in classrooms.
The programme will also simultaneously be broadcast via satellite by the BBC Prime Footprint to Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, Turkey, as well as to North Sea oil rigs.
