NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN FEBRUARY

19960131 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies will take office on 1 February 1996:

SECURITY COUNCIL

Madeleine K. Albright (United States) will succeed Sir John Weston (United Kingdom) as President of the Security Council.

MILITARY STAFF COMMITTEE

Rear Admiral David Anthony James Blackburn (United Kingdom) will succeed Major General Valery N. Demin (Russian Federation) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
