SECRETARY-GENERAL TELLS FOUR SECURITY COUNCIL PERMANENT MEMBERS HE INTENDS TO SEND LETTER TO IRAQ
19960118 The following is attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary- General:The Secretary-General met this afternoon with Alain Dejammet, Permanent Representative of France, Sir John Weston, Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom, Edward W. Gnehm, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States and Yuriy V. Fedotov, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation.
The Secretary-General informed the Permanent Four of his intention to send a letter to the Iraqi Government.
The Secretary-General is authorized to take the actions necessary to ensure the effective implementation of Security Council Resolution 986 of April 1995.
