SECRETARY-GENERAL THANKS THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO LIBERATION OF FRENCH PILOTS

The following statement was made today in Geneva by Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali:

The SECRETARY-GENERAL: After more than 100 days of waiting in fear, the two French Pilots, Captain Chiffot and Lieutenant Souvignet, are free. In the name of the Organization of the United Nations, I would like to thank all those who have contributed directly or indirectly to this liberation. This happy ending shows, once again, the indispensable virtues of diplomacy and dialogue.
