IBERO-AMERICAN SUMMIT IN ARGENTINA REITERATES SUPPORT FOR UNITED NATIONS

The following was received from the spokesman travelling with Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali:

The heads of State and governments attending the Ibero-American Summit in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, have decided today to add the following paragraph to the final declaration to be issued at the conclusion of their deliberations:

"Point 13:

"Taking into account that this Summit precedes by a few days the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, we reiterate our firm support for the principles and purposes that inspired its creation, and we make a solemn commitment to reinforce its critical role as a privileged forum for dialogue and consultation between the Ibero-Amnerican nations and the rest of the international community."
